At the Ball

They left behind the lively ballroom, they left behind the music and lots of people - the women in elegant evening dresses, many adorned with pearls and feathered accessories; they left behind the men with tailored suits , crips cravats and polished shoes. They stepped away from the from the shiny grandeur of the party to the warm darkness of the lounge. Her high heels lay discarded on the floor.
