The devil (Mrs.G) is in the details :)
So, I got the final result from the artist that I posted the sketch earlier, and it was very disappointing for me. I asked Patrick O'Donnell, to explain to me, how it can be that the sketch can look to me so much better than the final result, and what he said is basically this...
The sketches look much better because they leave a lot of details vague, undetermined. So, the viewer basically fills in all the missing parts, and imagines the fine details. But when the artist does the final inks, basically every detail is now made specific, and to do it properly it requires a lot more knowledge of the fine anatomy, proportions, the art of inking etc... and if not done properly it makes it look worse to you, because instead of the ideal that you would imagine, now you have something less perfect...
(If you don't know who Patrick O'Donnell is, he is the artist that I started my whole comic book "career" with :). He is not a professional artist, but I trust him on his judgements, because he is creating some amazing art, from pencils to colors. He is a very slow artist maybe, but worth waiting, lol. If you don't follow him on Instagram , check him out, he is @pod1213 there)
Anyway, this is not to say that the artist that I employed to do the character sketch (as a test) is bad, but I'm thinking that I won't be quite happy with the result, so probably will pass.
